Description
Orange Tulip Worsted Weight – Madder Reds & Pinks
Soft peach with a pink undertone — not orange, not pink, but the particular color between them that only madder exhaust gives. The color of tulip petals is peachy-coral in some light and soft pink in others. Warmer than Rose Hip, softer than any straight orange, with a complexity that comes from using the residual dye after a deeper madder bath.
Naturally dyed with madder root (Rubia tinctorum) exhaust bath. After dyeing a deep Madder, the remaining dye in the pot produces this soft peach-pink. Exhaust baths give lighter, more complex colors than fresh baths — the color has been partially depleted, leaving behind different chromophores that produce Orange Tulip’s characteristic peach-with-pink quality. Part of our Madder Reds & Pinks collection.
This is a tonal colorway — each skein moves through natural variations within the color range as the dye responds to each fiber. Colors may vary from images online. Pre-wash in cold water by hand before use, as natural dyes may release excess color during the first several washes. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
