Description
Violet Lace Weight – Twilight Purples & Stone Grays
Clear, saturated violet — the pure purple logwood gives at full strength. Not red-purple, not blue-purple, but a centered true violet: the color of amethyst, of twilight just after sunset, of the middle of the purple spectrum. Logwood’s signature tone.
Naturally dyed with logwood (Haematoxylum campechianum) from Maiwa at full bath concentration. Logwood is one of the great historical purple dyes — used since the 16th century for its reliable, saturated color. Violet is logwood at its most direct: no modifier, full depth. Part of our Twilight Purples & Stone Grays collection.
Dye note: Logwood without modifier on alum-mordanted wool gives a clear, warm-leaning violet. pH-sensitive — alkaline conditions shift it bluer, acidic conditions shift it redder. Use pH-neutral wool wash to preserve the balanced violet tone. On silk logwood deepens and enriches; on linen a tannin pre-mordant is needed for good strike.
This is a tonal colorway — each skein moves through natural variations within the color range as the dye responds to each fiber. Colors may vary from images online. Pre-wash in cold water by hand before use, as natural dyes may release excess color during the first several washes. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
