Description
Pink Sock Weight — Madder Reds & Pinks
Vivid warm pink — the pure, clear pink that cochineal gives at full strength. Not the pale warmth of Blush (exhaust bath), not the madder-shifted pink of Rose Hip or Dusty Rose, but a genuine, saturated pink: warm, clear, and unmistakably pink.
The intensity variation does the work: Dark gives you that vivid barbie/pepto brightness — the pink that reads across a room. Medium settles into a classic warm cochineal rose. Light softens to a clear, sweet rose pink with full cochineal warmth still present. Same dye bath, same fiber, same dye source — the depth shifts with concentration.
Naturally dyed with cochineal (dactylopius coccus) from Botanical Colors. Alum mordant. Full dye bath — no modifier, which keeps the color in the pink range rather than shifting toward red or crimson. Dyed at our studio in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia. Cochineal is one of the most lightfast natural dyes available, performing well across all fiber types. On silk, the pink intensifies and brightens. On linen, a tannin pre-mordant is needed for good strike. On wool, the color is even, warm, and durable.
This is a tonal colorway — each skein moves through natural variations within the color range as the dye responds to each fiber. Colors may vary from images online. Pre-wash in cold water by hand before use, as natural dyes may release excess color during the first several washes. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
