Package 2: Wash/Scour & Pick to Cloud — $15/lb
Your raw fleece, cleaned and opened — ready for whatever comes next. We scour away lanolin and dirt, then pick the fiber open into a soft cloud. Perfect for hand spinners who want to card, comb, or blend their own batts, as well as needle felters and fiber artists who prefer to work with clean, prepped raw fiber. You stay in control of the final texture and prep.
A few things to know before you send your fleece:
- Pricing is based on incoming weight. Orders under 2 lbs include a $25 setup fee.
- Please skirt your fleece before sending. Unskirted fleeces may require additional skirting ($25/hr) or washing ($3.50/lb extra).
- Expect fiber loss. The wash and pick process typically results in around 30% weight loss — more if the fleece has significant VM, lanolin, or wasn’t well skirted. This is normal and expected.
- VM stays in. Picking opens the fibers but does not remove vegetable matter. Seeds, hay, and debris present in the fleece will remain.
- Fleeces with marking crayon or show oil incur additional fees.
- A 50% nonrefundable deposit is due upon receipt of your fiber.
