DK Weight Red – The Perfect Weight for What Comes Next
Here’s what we know: DK weight is the Goldilocks of yarn. Not too fine, not too chunky. Just right for hats that need to be knit this weekend, sweaters that need to last, and projects that matter.
This particular red? It’s madder root, the same dye that’s colored everything from medieval manuscripts to miners’ bandanas. The botanical that shows up whenever people gather to demand better. We’re not saying your knitting is political—we’re saying knitting has always been political.
What It’s For:
- Red yarn for hat knitting (yes, THOSE hats, among others)
- Quick-finish projects for community actions and gatherings
- Gifts between makers who understand each other
- Sweaters and accessories that bridge the gap between everyday wear and intentional statement
- Any pattern where you need your stitches to show up
Dye Notes: Small batch, botanical, grown and processed on our Appalachian dye farm. Each skein connects back to generations of textile workers who knew: sometimes the most powerful tools are the ones already in our hands.
Details:
- DK weight, naturally dyed
- For knitters building community, one row at a time
The grandmothers would approve. Trust us on this one.
Care: All of our colorways are tonal – with shifts in color from light to dark as part of the natural dyeing process. Colors and tones may vary from the images online. Pre-wash in cold water – by hand – before use, as natural dyes may release excess color during the first several washes. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
