Gulf Worsted Weight – Waters Collection = Warm teal-turquoise — the specific color of the Gulf of Mexico off Tampa, Florida. Clear, shallow, sun-warmed water. Not the deep navy of open ocean, not green, but the warm teal that sits exactly between them.
Each skein is naturally-dyed using a Saxon Blue Base (a 1775 recipe combining indigo (for the blue base) and sulfuric acid). Part of our Waters Collection — this colorway is a reminder of the warm waters of summer trips to the beach. Dye note: Saxon Blue produces a clean warm teal-turquoise. Reads slightly more golden on silk and camel, slightly deeper on linen.
This is a tonal colorway — each skein moves through variations within the color range as the natural dye responds to each fiber. Colors may vary from images online. Pre-wash in cold water by hand before use, as natural dyes may release excess color during the first several washes. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
How It Knits Up: Our Gulf colorway creates beautiful pooling and flashing effects in stockinette stitch. In textured patterns like cables or lace, the color changes enhance stitch definition without competing with the pattern. Perfect for projects where you want color interest without dramatic contrast.
Best Paired With:
- Neutrals: Cream, natural white, soft gray
- Blues: Dark indigo, periwinkle
- Greens: Sage, moss green
- Purples: Lavender (for colorwork)
