Light Red Rose captures the delicate blush of wild roses blooming along Appalachian trails. This soft, romantic colorway offers a sophisticated take on pink—warm enough to avoid saccharine sweetness, light enough to feel fresh and modern.

Dye Sources: Madder & Cochineal with alum mordant. Careful pH control to achieve soft rosy-pink tone. Sourced from Botanical Colors (Oakland, CA), Maiwa Supply (Vancouver, BC).

Pre-Washing (CRITICAL for all red colorways):

Natural red dyes—particularly cochineal, madder, and brazilwood—tend to release excess dye during the first few washes. Always pre-wash your red yarn before starting your project:

  1. Soak skein in cool water with a small amount of pH-neutral soap
  2. Gently agitate, drain, and rinse until water runs clear
  3. Roll in towel to remove excess water
  4. Dry flat away from direct sunlight
  5. Repeat if needed for deeper reds
