Natural Dyeing from Your Garden & Kitchen

Learn how to create lasting color from plants you can actually find and use.

In this 2.5-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll explore natural dyeing using accessible, seasonal materials like goldenrod, marigold, black walnut, and other plants gathered from the surrounding landscape and garden. Held at our working dye studio in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia, this session focuses on practical dye knowledge you can take home and repeat.

You’ll learn which plants produce reliable, long-lasting color—and which don’t—while working directly with wool and fiber in real dye baths. This is not just a demonstration; you’ll actively participate in the process from plant to finished color.

Designed for beginners but valuable for anyone wanting to move beyond surface-level dye projects, this workshop emphasizes results you can recreate using everyday materials.
