Slate Worsted Weight – Twilight Purples & Stone Grays

Cool gray with a purple undertone — the color of slate rock, of stormy sky, of the mountains before rain. Iron modifier pulls the logwood from warm violet toward a cooler, grayer tone that reads as gray in most light but shows its purple origin in certain conditions. A sophisticated non-color with real depth.

Naturally dyed with logwood heavily modified with iron. The iron saddens and cools the logwood purple, pushing it toward the gray-purple of slate. The result no longer reads as clearly purple — it reads as a deep cool gray with color in it, which is precisely the point. Part of our Twilight Purples & Stone Grays collection.

This is a tonal colorway — each skein moves through natural variations within the color range as the dye responds to each fiber. Colors may vary from images online. Pre-wash in cold water by hand before use, as natural dyes may release excess color during the first several washes. Lay flat to dry out of direct sunlight.
